Spam, spam, more spam, ahh yes SPAM!!!
And no I am not the edible kind, I want to share my thoughts on the email kind. There seems to be so much into marketing about spam cleaners, filters, and any other product to help with that. Being in the industry I know and see where 97%+ of spam comes from, and no it is not generally not from actual mail servers. So where does most spam come from? Usually from the millions of people with infected computers that are controlled remotely by a hacker. That means poor old Grandma and Grandpa are probably contributing to the masses of spam emails.

New Standard Proposal:
Deny ALL email that does not come from an IP address with a reverse record that contains ^mail. or .mail. in the record.
Any email server that deals with email must have that in the reverse record.

Oh look this will block 97% of spam!!!!! and it stops the senders, it is NOT a filter. If you do not have a correct reverse PTR you are NOT sending mail.

Sure spammers will create “mail.” servers but that will be so much easier to block, especially when we don’t have to block the ma and pa’s of the world sending email from a dynamic IP address with no correct reverse PTR

Summary:
Why get more filters, when we can block from the source. Filters will be able to be more efficient, this will cause less server loads having to process 10,000 emails per hour instead of 100,000
