Sorry that I feel I have to slam football coverage, but I think it may be overdue and maybe I am the only one that feels this way. I talk to my dad (in Oklahoma) around Christmas and he tells me that my brother is going to be at the Liberty Bowl in Tennessee. My brother is the lead drummer in the Mounds High School Band, and other high school bands were going to play at the Liberty Bowl together. My dad was excited as he told me that they were going to be on ESPN, so I patiently watched the game hoping to catch some glimpse of my brother on TV, did it happen? NO. My father does not get ESPN and I know he was looking forward to someone recording it, I had to call him to tell him that ESPN did NOT cover the halftime show, instead they put on guys that talk about their own opinions about football and players. I sure as hell did not care about what their halftime report said, I was only wanting to watch my brother. So this notice should go to every child, student, or anyone who EXPECTS to be on TV with a half time show, it is not going to happen unless your in the half time show for the Super Bowl. Apparently, ESPN and the others think that NCAA Bowl games are not important enough to show the “real” halftime show that is happening at the actual game. They would rather show you 3 guys talking about their own selfish stupid opinions about football instead of the people that had to spend lots of time practicing, the money to “travel” to the bowl game, and who had their hopes on being on a national broadcast, and who should be the real heart of the halftime show. So, just my rambling thoughts, I think any parent of anyone who plays in the halftime shows of football games, don’t expect to see your child on TV, because it is most likely not going to happen, unless the broadcast channels change their ways and leave opinionated guys to having their own show instead of intruding on the game itself.
